Observations and opinions, thoughts on the oneiric world people live in, and whatever comes to mind.

A lot of it is music, as it happens. And still pictures of stuff. Go figure.

"Habit" by Ought // More Than Any Other Day (Out 4.29.14 via Constellation Records)

It’s one of my favorite things in the world to hear a song and be left at a loss for how to sum it up. Not in a bad way, of course - but rather in a manner that just leaves you wanting to spin it again rather than talk about it. “Habit” by Ought is just such a song. There are things to be said about it, or comparisons to be made (Talking Heads by way of The Mountain Goats with a smattering of Television, perhaps), but really, it’s better to just experience it because it’s really something special. Hit the download arrow on the artwork for a free download.

EMA The Future's Void

I’ve been busy. Geology, KVRX, a lab job, starting a horror movie society-

Regardless.

Here’s Cthulhu, by EMA. Off of her new album The Future’s Void.

It’s excellent.

Angel Olsen's new album is the musical equivalent of a deep, questioning stare from a lover. These are delicate songs, with lyrics stripped to their essence.

In the 1960s, GE set out to create a mechanical exoskeleton that could give the average person super strength. Called Hardiman, the project was funded by the U.S. military and was developed to allow users to easily lift up to 1,500 pounds. Unfortunately, the suit itself weighed 1,500 pounds and ultimately Hardiman’s size, weight, lack of stability and power-supply issues prevented it from ever leaving the laboratory.
